IMCHIP Joins the Siemens Cre8Ventures Digital Twin Marketplace

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Advancing Sovereign, Energy-Efficient AI for Drones

Siemens Cre8Ventures is pleased to announce that IMCHIP has joined the Siemens Cre8Ventures Digital Twin Marketplace and will participate in our drone campaign.

This collaboration brings sovereign, brain-inspired AI hardware into a partner-led, digital-twin-enabled environment designed to evidence power, performance, and system-level value before silicon and before deployment.

This marks a significant milestone in advancing European technological sovereignty and drone capability. By combining IMCHIP’s neuromorphic architecture with Siemens Cre8Ventures’ digital twin infrastructure, we are creating a transparent, evidence-based pathway for next-generation autonomous systems that can operate independently of cloud infrastructure while maintaining mission-critical performance standards.

Why IMCHIP

IMCHIP is developing a fundamentally different class of AI compute. Their technology is based on in-memory neuromorphic architectures that colocate memory and processing using memristor-based devices, removing the traditional memory wall that constrains conventional silicon.

Step-Change Power Reduction

  • Radical reductions in power consumption
  • Eliminates data-movement bottlenecks inherent in von Neumann architectures

Ultra-Low-Latency Inference

  • Real-time decision-making at the edge
  • No cloud dependency
  • Designed for contested environments

High Compute Density

  • High computational capability without thermal penalties
  • Sustained performance in constrained form factors

For autonomous systems, these are mission-critical capabilities, not incremental improvements. Local processing of complex AI workloads fundamentally reshapes how autonomous systems can operate in denied or degraded environments.

Why This Matters for Drones

Modern drones—civil and military—are constrained by power, latency, and endurance. Cloud-dependent AI and GPU-centric architectures limit autonomy and introduce sovereign risk.

On-Board Intelligence

  • Full autonomy without cloud reliance
  • Eliminates external vulnerabilities

Real-Time Edge Processing

  • Immediate perception and decision-making
  • Faster response to dynamic operational conditions

Extended Mission Duration

  • Longer endurance through radically lower energy consumption

Reduced Signatures

  • Lower thermal and electromagnetic signatures
  • Enhanced survivability in contested theatres

IMCHIP is highly relevant across navigation, perception, sensor fusion, and autonomous decision support, enabling mission profiles previously considered infeasible.

The Role of the Siemens Cre8Ventures Digital Twin Marketplace

Evidence Before Implementation

IMCHIP will not “plug into” a Siemens product.

Instead, IMCHIP’s capabilities are included as a sovereign innovation option within a neutral, partner-led environment designed for transparency and validation.

This enables evaluation of power, performance, and operational value before fabrication and before field deployment, dramatically reducing technical risk.

How Validation Works

1. Subsystem-Level Silicon Twins
Evidence pre-silicon power and performance claims
(Proof-of-Concept)

2. Full-System Multi-Physics Digital Twins
Demonstrate mission-level and operational value in realistic scenarios
(Proof-of-Value)

3. Collaborative Partner Ecosystem
Early collaboration between corporates, academics, and partners

What Participation in the Dual-Use Drone Campaign Means

IMCHIP will collaborate with a world-class ecosystem to create a first-of-a-kind sovereign capability demonstrator.

Ecosystem Participants

  • Technical Universities & Research Labs – Fundamental research and academic excellence
  • Semiconductor & IP Partners – Manufacturing readiness and integration pathways
  • Siemens Digital Twin & EDA Capabilities – World-leading simulation and verification

The goal is to demonstrate how next-generation AI hardware can significantly impact system-level outcomes, grounded in real operational requirements.

Exploring Transformative System Impacts

Power Budgets

  • Rethinking energy allocation across drone subsystems

Thermal Envelopes

  • Higher compute capability within constrained thermal limits

Autonomy Assumptions

  • Redefining what autonomous systems can achieve independently

Time-to-Decision at the Edge

  • Accelerated operational tempo through immediate local processing

A Shared Sovereignty Agenda

This collaboration aligns with European sovereignty objectives, including the EU Chips Act and broader defence and security priorities.

By combining European innovation, manufacturing capability, and digital engineering excellence, we are creating pathways to technological independence in critical capability areas.

IMCHIP Brings

  • CMOS-compatible, manufacturable neuromorphic technology
  • Clear path from research to industrialisation
  • European-rooted AI hardware innovation
  • Proven memristor-based in-memory computing architectures

Siemens Cre8Ventures Brings

  • Neutral, partner-led collaborative venturing model
  • Digital twin infrastructure to shift validation left
  • Marketplace designed to reduce time-to-first sovereign value
  • World-class EDA and simulation capabilities

What Happens Next
