New Siemens Digital Experience Centre in Singapore Polytechnic

6 November 2019 – Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and Siemens Digital Industries Software today officially launched the first-of-its-kind Siemens Digital Experience Centre in Southeast Asia, to help equip students with digitalization skills and boost product innovation among Small and Medium businesses (SMBs) in Singapore.

As an academic partner of Siemens Digital Industries Software, 80 students from SP’s School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering will also be trained to use the Solid Edge® software for 3D design, simulation, visualization, manufacturing, and design management. These students could also be helping SMBs to digitalize their systems and processes with their newly acquired skills.

Located on the polytechnic’s campus at Dover Road, the SP & Siemens Digital Experience Centre has an area of 80 square metres and is equipped with the latest technology from Siemens’ Xcelerator™ portfolio, which are used by leading companies in various industries including automotive, aerospace and high-tech electronics to accelerate all aspects of product creation and manufacturing.

At the center, SMBs will also experience first-hand how digitalization and modelling software can improve and streamline their design processes and manufacturing systems without the need for physical prototypes, leading to a potential increase in productivity and cost saving.

To further equip more industry professionals with digitalization skills, both Siemens Digital Industries Software and SP could also jointly develop relevant SkillsFuture courses.

“As the world becomes increasingly disrupted by technological innovation, our graduates will need to stay ahead of the curve by acquiring relevant deep skills and knowledge. We are happy to partner with a technological leader such as Siemens Digital Industries Software to help our graduates shape Singapore’s economy through digitalization.”

Toh Ser Khoon, Director of Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
