Academic Day 2020

By Hannah Straub

On January 29th, 2020, the fourth annual Academic Day, organized by IDEAL GRP, was held this year at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences in Finland. There were more than 40 participants from 10 different universities in attendance. The purpose of the day was to bring academic personnel to one place, get to know each other and share best practices on how to utilize Siemens Digital Industries Software locally and nationwide.

This year presentations included opening words from Ville Pantsar (IDEAL GRP) and Martin Koczmann (Siemens Digital Industries Software) and the rest of the day focused on presentations by academic partners. There were presentations about Plant Simulation, Teamcenter, and NX from presenters originally from five different schools.

After the presentations there was a possibility to have a tour in Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences laboratories. Participants were able to see small factory and its digital twin, try virtual reality headset, and see different kind of robots and machine tools in use.

In the afternoon there was bus transportation to Tampere, so academic partners could participate in DigiForum the next day. DigiForum brought together Siemens Digital Industries Software solution key players in Finland, so it was also a very useful day for academic partners.
