Portable Stimulus Standard – In Use Now

By Dennis Brophy

Explore it with Tom Fitzpatrick

For those who struggle with the daunting challenges to verify next generation SoC’s and are pushing up against 7nm design challenges and more, Mentor’s Verification Evangelist, Tom Fitzpatrick, takes a break to connect with Amelia Dalton to discuss the details of Accellera’s Portable Stimulus standard – that is set to bring all of us some verification relief.  Tom discusses the differences between vertical, horizontal and technique reuse.  In 2014 Mentor initiated industry discussion on the need to consider standardization and Tom covers this as well its current standardization status in Amelia’s Weekly Fish Fry podcast.

After listening to the podcast, you might want to dive deeper into Portable Stimulus.  The Verification Academy has a whole section on Portable Stimulus featuring seminars, introductory courses, a virtual lab with Questa® inFact and more.  You can find all this information here.

Detailed information on Mentor’s Questa inFact product can be found here.  In additional to product datasheets you will find a catalog of blog posts, on-demand web seminars, white papers and information about instructor-led education on this new standard.

Lastly, from Accellera, you can download the current standard without charge.  The Accellera download site is located here.  If you wish to meet Tom in person, he will be DVCon U.S. 2019 and I’m certain he would be eager to discuss Portable Stimulus with you.  To learn more about DVCon U.S. and register, visit their website here.
