AI-Powered Easy Plan: Manufacturing Planning Agent

The Spring 2026 release brings real AI capabilities to manufacturing process planning with the Manufacturing Planning Agent.

Conversational Planning with the Manufacturing Planning Agent

The Manufacturing Planning Agent, part of Teamcenter Copilot, now supports full conversational interaction with users. Engineers can describe their planning intent in natural language, and the agent builds the MBOM and BOP content. This cuts down on manual steps and helps you build your manufacturing plans faster.

Specifications and Conversation Combined

There’s also a hybrid mode where structured manufacturing specifications work alongside conversational input. Apply proven practices through specs, then use the agent to handle special cases, unique production needs, or unexpected requirements. You get speed plus precision in the same workflow.

AI Guardrails for Confident Planning

Built-in guardrails keep the agent operating within defined boundaries. Planners can only edit data within their current working scope, and the system alerts them if an instruction would modify anything outside those boundaries. You get AI acceleration but without giving up control — no accidental edits, no data quality surprises.

MBOM Authoring

The 2606 release brings serious maturity to MBOM authoring — addressing real-world pain points in BOM alignment, recipe management, accountability tracking, variant management and manufacturing feature assignment.

Populate Feature Containers Directly from the BOM Alignment Page

Manufacturing feature assignment gets a big upgrade. Automatically assign features to the MBOM structure based on connected parts, right from the BOM Alignment page. Weld features apply instantly per your configured structure, and rule-based assignments handle routine allocations — less manual work, fewer errors. You can also view feature-to-part connections via the ‘Connected to’ property column and import features from XML or PLMXML files with complete part-to-feature information.

Extended Mini-Context to EBOM in BOM Alignment

We extended Mini-Context support to the Engineering BOM. This allows planners to work on smaller, manageable segments instead of the full product structure. Run accountability checks at the sub-assembly level. Create focused work packages using manufacturing representations. Less complexity, more flexibility.

Solution Variants: Create and Manage Within MBOM

You can now also create and manage Solution Variants directly within the MBOM. Organize multiple variants within a single 150% structure, switch between them for assembly planning, and support the ‘Reuse’ category for both Assembly and Usage MBOMs. No more duplicating structures or starting over when production requirements change.

Recursive Resolve of MBOM Recipe

A new ‘MBOM Recipe Execution’ workflow automates recipe resolution across the entire MBOM hierarchy. Select the MBOM as target and a work package as reference, and the workflow resolves every recipe — top-level or buried deep in the structure. No more tedious manual resolution. Works for both Assembly and Usage MBOMs.

BOP Authoring

2606 release delivers solid improvements to BOP authoring, study management, and twin structure synchronization — more flexibility, better reuse, tighter control over process structures.

Twin Structures: Advanced Capabilities

Twin Sync now includes Change Analysis and the ability to Reconcile Broken References. View detailed structural changes in the change summary panel, sync all or selected changes, add removed objects back to the structure, and filter by change type. Full transparency and flexible control — less disruption, more accuracy across your production lifecycle.

Reference BOP Operations and Processes in Classic BOP

Classic BOP users can now copy and paste existing operations, processes, compound operations, and execution steps as references — within the same work package or across packages. Promotes consistency, cuts recreation effort, and ensures proven process elements get reused instead of rebuilt.

Support Assembly ‘End Item State’ in Planning Pages

Assembly end item state now shows up in planning pages, giving planners clearer visibility and control over assembly-level planning status throughout the process structure.

Clone Isolated Study from Isolated Study (Including Time Study)

Clone isolated studies and time studies to explore different simulation and manufacturing scenarios without touching your master process plan. Once validated, publish cloned studies directly to the master. Works across PlantBOP, Classic BOP, Easy Plan, Process Simulate, and Manufacturing Process Planner.

Consider Variant Formula “OR” During Operation Allocation

BOP allocation gets simpler with support for OR conditions in Variant Formulas. Split and allocate operations based on ‘OR’ clauses without manual effort, assign to the right plant scenarios, and deal with complex ‘AND’/‘OR’ logic seamlessly. No more manual splitting and reassignment for variant-driven planning.

Change Management

Track and Show Impact at the Occurrence Level of the Part

Change management gets more precise. View specific occurrence-level BOM changes in BOM-BOP compare, focusing only on the part changes that actually impact your plant processes. The change summary panel underlines the specific occurrences that matter, so you can propagate targeted changes to the BOP and see exactly how they affect your product view. Less noise, faster decisions, more accurate plans.

Manufacturing Change Notice (MCN) capabilities also improve: ignore irrelevant changes in MCN Compare mode while preserving the option to restore them, and track Time Activity changes directly within MCNs.

Line Balancing and Time Management

Sharing Process Resources Scope

You can now assign the same operation to different Process Resources within the same station. Shared operations are visually highlighted, a dedicated column shows the Process Resources association and modifications to a shared operation propagate automatically across all associated resources. Consistent, no duplication.

Assign Operations Per Product Variant

Assigning operations per product variant is streamlined with enhanced variant-aware allocation tools — supporting cases where different variants need distinct operation sequences at different resources.

We’ve also added operation creation directly on the Line Balancing page (no unnecessary navigation) and Hierarchical Takt Time Roll-Down, which automatically cascades takt time across your product hierarchy.

Easy Plan Visualization

Visualize Teamcenter Properties in 3D Markups

You can now add Teamcenter property values directly into your 3D markups, linked to the relevant geometry. Select properties from a dropdown or type to filter. Once inserted, properties are protected from editing (only removable), keeping data integrity.

Capture, Update, and Load Product Views Directly Within Easy Plan

Product Views can now be captured, updated, and loaded without leaving Easy Plan. Revisit and refine process plans at any stage, with views always reflecting the latest changes. No more switching between applications.

The 3D viewer also gains real-time Assembly PMI visualization, part usage validation with synchronized selection across viewer/MBOM/consumed parts, and a secondary viewer for parts and tools to support work instruction validation.

Enterprise Recipe Management

For process manufacturing customers: flexible node positioning in PERT diagrams gives you user-friendly layout control with adaptive layouts that retain your changes. New flow types support conditional logic, recirculation, and rework. DCD and Teamcenter parameter support for recipe transformation and cloning maintains data consistent throughout. And lab recipe creation based on ISA88 standards enables a simplified path from R&D to plant-neutral general recipes.
