Vertices are edit points that can be used to manipulate the leader line for e.g. creating a jog, etc.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 419px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"01.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/01-1.png\" alt=\"01.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Also <strong>Alt + Click<\/strong> on a curve in the Draft or the Sketcher to add or remove Edit Points on the curve.<\/p>\n<p>Annotations can be associative or non-associative. An associative annotation moves when the element it is connected to moves. Make a connected annotation non-associative by pressing the <strong>Alt key while<\/strong> dragging the terminator handle off the element<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively (no pun intended) move a leader line connection point to free space or to another element yet retaining associativity with the first element, by pressing the <strong>Alt+Ctrl<\/strong> keys while dragging the terminator handle.<\/p>\n<p>When placing a Smart Dimension, keeping the <strong>Alt key pressed<\/strong> changes the appearance of the dimension. This applies to PMI and also to dimensions in the Sketcher and Draft environments.<\/p>\n<p>In the Draft environment, click the Select tool and <strong>Alt + Click<\/strong> to create a polygon fence around elements for selection.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 292px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"05.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/05-1.png\" alt=\"05.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Use <strong>Alt+drag<\/strong> to detach a PMI dimension or annotation from one model element and attach it to a different model element.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 257px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"06.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/06-1.png\" alt=\"06.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When a feature to which a dimension is added is deleted or suppressed, the dimension is orphaned and dangles as indicated with a brown color. <strong>Alt + Drag<\/strong> the handle for the extension line and drop it on to a edge or point to bring it back to life.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 314px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"07.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/07-1.png\" alt=\"07.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The grid helps drawing and modifying elements relative to known positions in the working window. <strong>Alt+X<\/strong> displays the X and Y coordinate input boxes, with the cursor in the X box while <strong>Alt+Y<\/strong> displays the X and Y coordinate input boxes, with the cursor in the Y box.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 378px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"08.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/08-1.png\" alt=\"08.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In wire harness, the path is a curve but the Alt key provides more options to the path than a simple curve in the Sketcher or Draft.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alt + Click<\/strong> the location along the path where to add a point along the path.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 532px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"09.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/09-1.png\" alt=\"09.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>To add a point to the end of the path, <strong>Alt + Click<\/strong> a location in free space where you want to add the point.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 448px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"10.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/10-7.png\" alt=\"10.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alt + Click<\/strong> a point on the path to remove the point. When edit points are removed, the control vertex points move and the shape of the path changes. This holds true for points on a curve created using the Keypoint Curve command in the sketcher and simply the Curve command in the draft environment too.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 524px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"11.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/11-3.png\" alt=\"11.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Count = 20<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>With annotation alignment shapes, disconnect an annotation from an alignment shape by <strong>pressing Alt<\/strong> and then selecting the annotation border. Re-attach it by dragging the annotation on to the shape. And jogs can also be createdon the alignment line using <strong>Alt+Click<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 244px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"12.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/12-5.png\" alt=\"12.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A quick way to set the center of rotation during view rotation is to press the middle mouse button and select a point or face to set the point about which to rotate the model.<\/p>\n<p>Press the <strong>Alt key<\/strong> while selecting the middle mouse button to cancel.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 285px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"13.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/13-5.png\" alt=\"13.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>IntelliSketch does not recognize any relationships while holding the <strong>Alt key<\/strong>.<br \/>\nRelease the <strong>Alt key to re-activate<\/strong> IntelliSketch.<\/p>\n<p>In a Fastener System balloon stack, edit individual balloons in the stack by pressing the <strong>Alt key<\/strong> while locating and click the first balloon to modify.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 204px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"14.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/14-5.png\" alt=\"14.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Add or modify the prefix and suffix text of one or more balloons in a fastener system balloon stack by first selecting the stack and then pressing <strong>Alt<\/strong> while selecting the balloon to edit.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 261px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"15.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/15-5.png\" alt=\"15.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For Centerlines,\u00a0 <strong>Alt + Drag<\/strong> the center line handle to detach and also to re-attach it back.<\/p>\n<p>As shown below, press the <strong>Alt key while dragging<\/strong> a single dimension (A) in an alignment set (B) to move only that dimension.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 450px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"16.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/16-5.png\" alt=\"16.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When inserting callouts for blocks with custom properties like Cost, Material, etc. sometimes the actual text may appear as &#8216;Error: Not Connected&#8217;. This can be resolved by<strong> Alt+dragging<\/strong> the callout handle and dropping it anywhere on the block.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 379px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"17.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/17-4.png\" alt=\"17.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alt + Middle Click<\/strong> also fits the view to the screen.<br \/>\n<strong>Alt + Middle<\/strong> <strong>Drag<\/strong> also invokes the Zoom Area command.<\/p>\n<p>Commands on the Ribbon bar can be accessed using the keyboard by tapping the <strong>Alt<\/strong> key which displays the key shortcuts for each tab, pressing which the Tab is activated and further key strokes required to access the commands are displayed.<\/p>\n<p>The following work flow demonstrates the Zoom Fit command issued by <strong>Alt V F<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 545px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"18.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/18-3.png\" alt=\"18.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Solid Edge is smart enough to add a shortcut key even for custom added ribbon buttons, so you can still use the Alt key (<strong>Alt C R<\/strong> for revision cloud) as seen below:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 561px\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"19.png\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/19-3.png\" alt=\"19.png\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong> that its <strong>Alt V F<\/strong> and <strong>Alt C R<\/strong> and not Alt+C+R since the keys are not pressed in combination with Alt but in succession.<\/p>\n<p>You can change the leader line attachment point using snap points displayed on the feature control frame.
