Here&#8217;s&nbsp;how.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>First,&nbsp;model the cube in Solid Edge. In theory, instead of a cube, this could be any solid model you wish to use to emit light from.&nbsp;Using the KeyShot options, set the slider for the Highest Quality and the desired output size.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 887px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Cube-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Cube.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Cube.png\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Note: currently in academic versions of the software, you&nbsp;are limited to 800 x 600 output regardless&nbsp;of this<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Send the model to KeyShot by clicking&nbsp; the KeyShot render button.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-left\" style=\"width: 72px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Render-Button-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Render-Button.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Render-Button.png\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>From the material Library, drag a glass material onto your part.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 314px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Glass-Material-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Glass-Material.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Glass-Material.png\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>From the Add Geometry fly-out in the Edit tab,&nbsp;add a Ground Plane. It is always a good habit to add perspective to the model to make it look more realistic.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 298px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Lighting-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Lighting.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Lighting.png\" \/><\/span><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 735px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Perspective-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Perspective.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Tutorial-Perspective.png\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Next, we need to add an object to which to assign a light source. From the Add Geometry fly-out in the Edit tab, add a Sphere to the scene. (CTRL+5)<\/P><br \/>\n<P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 469px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Add-Sphere-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Add-Sphere.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Add-Sphere.png\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>This adds an entry in the Project pane in the Scene tree. The sphere is huge and will obscure your scene initially.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 314px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Entry-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Entry.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Entry.png\" \/><\/span><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 758px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Huge-Sphere-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Huge-Sphere.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Huge-Sphere.png\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Select the Sphere entry in the Scene tree, and on the&nbsp;Position Tab in the lower pane, drag the Scale slider to the left to make it small enough to fit inside the part.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 316px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Scene-Tree-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Scene-Tree.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Scene-Tree.png\" \/><\/span><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 633px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Scale-Slider-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Scale-Slider.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Scale-Slider.png\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Select the Move Tool command and then using the arrows, drag the Sphere object inside of your part. Once inside, click the green checkmark.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 450px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Drag-Sphere-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Drag-Sphere.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Drag-Sphere.png\" \/><\/span><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 479px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Click-OK-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Click-OK.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Click-OK.png\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Next, assign a Light material to the Sphere. There are several to choose from and you can experiment to see which one gives you the effect you want.&nbsp;Drag the desired light type onto the Sphere object in the Scene tree.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 518px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Area-Light-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Area-Light.PNG\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Area-Light.PNG\" \/><\/span><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\" style=\"width: 507px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/3D-Rendering-Light-Type-1.png\" alt=\"3D-Rendering-Light-Type.png\" title=\"3D-Rendering-Light-Type.png\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Using the Area light, you can choose whether you want the camera to see the physical light (sphere) or just the affects of the light.
