Define kinematics for individual parts within subassemblies and easily export kinematic information for use in NX and Process Simulate. You can also leverage Solid Edge motion output fully within NX MCD for efficient virtual commissioning.

And with the multi-frame feature control frame (FCF) Support in NX, you can transfer multi-frame FCFs from Solid Edge to NX as true PMI. FCFs are used to document critical geometric requirements on a model. Being able to transfer multi-frame FCFs allows for intelligent utilization in downstream operations with advanced processes such as tolerance analysis, CMM, CAM and more. Each FCF is identified individually in the NX Model Based Definition (MBD) navigator. This allows for precise editing and enhanced usability of Solid Edge MBD information in NX.

IFC support

An IFC file is a standard used in the construction and building industry to store and exchange information about a construction project and Building Information Models (BIM) data, enabling seamless exchange and collaboration among different software platforms. It promotes interoperability, ensures data consistency and provides long-term accessibility, making it invaluable for construction projects and the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

With the IFC import/export, you can efficiently exchange precise BIM data, allowing you to maintain accuracy and consistency in your designs by handling occurrence-specific properties during import and export. The ability to easily edit these properties via a new user interface ensures flexibility and adaptability in design processes, leading to enhanced collaboration and decision-making.

Additionally centralized Microsoft Excel™ spreadsheets drive property mappings and assignments, providing you with a structured and organized approach to managing BIM data, ultimately facilitating streamlined workflows and improved productivity in tagging parts and assemblies with the correct BIM data, such as columns, beams, windows, floors, slabs and more.

Other features also include support position, orientation and calling on IFC Imports. Benefit from the ability to adjust the position, orientation and scale of IFC files effortlessly before integrating them into Solid Edge. This functionality ensures alignment with Solid Edge’s coordinate system, facilitating smoother integration and enhancing design accuracy.

CAD direct

We’re expanding our CAD Direct capabilities with support for IFC files, enhancing your design flexibility. Solid Edge CAD Direct is a built-in 3D design capability that improves productivity when working with geometry from popular CAD systems.

The Freeze Link Feature allows you to temporarily disconnect the native file reference in Solid Edge assemblies. Changes to the data won’t affect your Solid Edge project until you unfreeze the link, providing greater control over your design iterations.

Join the conversation

All of these new features and enhancements in Solid Edge 2025, along with many more, were announced during our live premiere on October 23, 2024.

To learn more about what’s new in the Solid Edge 2025 release, click here.

There are a lot of ways to hear what others are saying about the upcoming release and to connect with other Solid Edge enthusiasts online.

Here are a few ways to join the conversation right now:

Keep up with #SolidEdge2025 on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Join our vibrant online Solid Edge Community to connect and interact with other Solid Edge users.

Take a deep dive into everything new in Solid Edge 2025 with a series of blog posts focused on the…

[1,96,102
11354,568
[3086
post-17839","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-tips-tricks","category-whats-new","tag-sheet-metal","tag-solid-edge
["GET
