{"id":10197,"date":"2016-03-31T12:49:06","date_gmt":"2016-03-31T19:49:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.plm.automation.siemens.com\/t5\/Solid-Edge-Blog\/Working-with-Standard-Parts\/ba-p\/340440"},"modified":"2026-03-26T07:21:22","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T11:21:22","slug":"working-with-standard-parts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/solidedge\/working-with-standard-parts\/","title":{"rendered":"Working with Standard Parts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-left\" style=\"width: 213px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/09\/StandardParts-2.png\" alt=\"StandardParts.png\" title=\"StandardParts.png\" \/><\/span>\ufeff<\/P><br \/>\n<P><FONT face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\">Many of you have expressed an interest in using Standard Parts.&nbsp; The Standard Parts Administrator setup is available on request, and many of you have requested this, but it may not be what you\u2019re really looking for.&nbsp; Here are some definitions and instructions to help you get started.<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><FONT face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\">&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/P><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><FONT face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\"><STRONG>Standard Parts Administrator<\/STRONG> \u2013 Includes a few dozen sample parts and a framework for creating your own standard parts database. <\/FONT><\/LI><br \/>\n<\/UL><br \/>\n<P style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><FONT face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\">&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><FONT face=\"Calibri\"><FONT color=\"#000000\"><STRONG>Standard Parts Libraries<\/STRONG> \u2013 a collection of piping and machinery parts that comprise a full database of parts.&nbsp; These libraries include thousands of parts and are not included with the Student License.They <I>are<\/I><\/FONT><FONT color=\"#000000\"> included with the University License, however.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/LI><br \/>\n<\/UL><br \/>\n<P style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><FONT face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\">&nbsp;<\/FONT><FONT face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\">To access your university\u2019s libraries, you do not need the Standard Parts Administrator.&nbsp; The university can install the libraries on their network; students can tell Solid Edge to reference those libraries as follows:<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><FONT face=\"Calibri\" color=\"#000000\">&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><FONT face=\"Calibri\"><STRONG><FONT color=\"#000000\">Step 1:<\/FONT><\/STRONG><FONT color=\"#000000\"> Start Solid Edge and open an Assembly file.&nbsp; The assembly file can be an existing document or a new one.
