It is reflected in our long-standing relationships with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UcxvBnnhCm4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">Hyundai Heavy Industries<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/pub\/case-studies\/42528?resourceId=42528\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">Man Diesel &amp; Turbo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WBbwvNtuVnk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">Siemens Marine,<\/a>&nbsp;<span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/topic\/improving-ship-fuel-efficiency-through-connected-simulation\/19367\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4<\/a>&nbsp;and o<\/span>ther shipyards, suppliers and operators.<\/p>\n<p>The marine industry is evolving at a faster pace due to the following factors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regulatory pressure set around pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions<\/li>\n<li>Continuous pressure coming from operators towards lower OPEX and CAPEX<\/li>\n<li>Technology readiness level of electrical systems is sufficiently high to penetrate the marine segment (batteries, SOFC, inverters\/motors\u2026)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Therefore, we at Siemens PLM Software decided to take system simulation to the next level and to align the Simcenter Amesim solution with the growing marine market and customers\u2019 needs for simulation.<\/p>\n<p>This is reflected in the latest Simcenter Amesim release: version 2019.1 now includes a dedicated marine solution containing <strong>propeller and ship resistance models.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-center\" style=\"width: 645px\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/09\/Simcenter-Amesim-marine1-1.png\" alt=\"Simcenter-Amesim-marine1.png\" title=\"Simcenter-Amesim-marine1.png\"><span class=\"lia-inline-image-caption\">New Simcenter Amesim library with validated marine-oriented  components<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For instance, this propeller model allows you to get thrust, torque and efficiency, &#8211; either based on CFD results import or based on propeller geometrical data.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Simcenter Amesim shipbuilding users can take advantage of several ready-to-use model&nbsp;templates in the new&nbsp;<strong>marine-oriented demo section<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-center\" style=\"width: 999px\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/09\/Simcenter-Amesim-marine2.-1.png\" alt=\"Simcenter-Amesim-marine2..png\" title=\"Simcenter-Amesim-marine2..png\"><span class=\"lia-inline-image-caption\">Two-stroke diesel tanker model template in the demo section<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to these new capabilities supporting the shipbuilding industry, Simcenter Amesim helps you easily <strong>perform ship propulsion architecture comparison<\/strong> (including hybrid systems, fuel cell, alternative fuel engine, batteries\u2026) for many different mission profiles.<\/p>\n<p>This commitment toward the marine industry is also reflected in the Simcenter Amesim internal organization with the appointment of a <strong>marine product manager<\/strong> <a href=\"mailto:olivier.schmidt@siemens.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">Olivier Schmidt<\/a> and a <strong>marine business developer<\/strong>, <a href=\"mailto:romain.nicolas@siemens.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">myself<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>Want to learn more about how system simulation can help you deal with engineering challenges?
