After a welcome and registration event on the evening of June 26<SUP>th<\/SUP>, the symposium started in earnest the following morning. The proceedings began with a fascinating account of the loads that the Mars Rover Curiosity had to endure during its journey to Mars, particularly through the entry, descent and final landing phases, from keynote speaker Darlene Lee of NASA\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Jet Propulsion Laboratory<\/A>.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-center\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/09\/FS13_01-1.jpg\" alt=\"FS13_01.JPG\" title=\"FS13_01.JPG\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Mark Sherman, head of Femap development, continued with a review of the recent Femap releases and shared some insight on things to come in the roadmap. The day continued in two tracks covering:<\/P><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI>Third party applications (SDC Verifier and Fatigue from Applied CAx)<\/LI><br \/>\n<LI>Case studies (large space systems analysis from MAYA and PEC, and simulating drop loads from Saratech)<\/LI><br \/>\n<LI>Tips and tricks including debugging FE models from NEi Software<\/LI><br \/>\n<LI>Advanced Femap training sessions<\/LI><br \/>\n<\/UL><br \/>\n<P>Following a review of Femap\u2019s meshing capabilities, the day finished up with a round table discussion involving several of the Femap developers.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Thanks again to our sponsors for helping with this event (Applied CAx, SDC Verifier, Saratech, MAYA and NEi Software).<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-center\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/09\/FS13_02-1.jpg\" alt=\"FS13_02.JPG\" title=\"FS13_02.JPG\" \/><\/span><\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>The draw winner for the AMD FirePro W7000 graphics card was Tyler Smithson of C&amp;D Zodiac \u2013 congratulations Tyler!
