Over the years, we have invested in technologies that allow you to build and use holistic digital twins to assist decision making during all phases of development and address multi-physics behavior across mechanical, electrical, and software functions. With that being said, we don\u2019t plan on stopping anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>Less than a year ago, we acquired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.siemens.com\/press\/en\/pressrelease\/?press=\/en\/pressrelease\/2017\/digitalfactory\/pr2017030254dfen.htm&amp;content%5b%5d=Corp&amp;content%5b%5d=DF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Mentor Graphics<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.siemens.com\/press\/en\/pressrelease\/?press=\/en\/pressrelease\/2017\/digitalfactory\/pr2017080412dfen.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">TASS International<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/en\/about_us\/newsroom\/press\/press_release.cfm?Component=258740\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Infolytica<\/a>, allowing us to add advanced capabilities in electronics simulation and testing, autonomous driving and integrated safety systems, and electromagnetics to our portfolio. 2018 will surely be an exciting year as we experience a big shift in technologies. Here are our top four predictions:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prediction #1: Increased Focus on Technologies for Autonomous Driving<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Autonomous driving has been a popular topic for a while and we plan on making some notable progress in the months to come. Our acquisition of TASS International has helped us deliver solutions for the development of advanced driver assistance systems (<a href=\"https:\/\/tass.plm.automation.siemens.com\/adas-testing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">ADAS<\/a>). This innovation takes us a step closer to allow the drivers to sit back and relax, while the car chauffeurs us to our desired destination.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-center\" style=\"width: 999px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/09\/Prediction-1-1.png\" alt=\"Prediction #1.png\" title=\"Prediction #1.png\"><span class=\"lia-inline-image-caption\" onclick=\"event.preventDefault();\">Simulation of LIDAR-based object detection and classification<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<strong>Prediction #2: Further Advancing Generative Design and Simulation of Additive Manufacturing Processes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;In the aerospace industry, we see challenges for fuel efficiency leading to increased use of composites, additive manufacturing, and new propulsion concepts, while facing stricter regulations. We are in the process of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/en\/products\/additive-manufacturing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">advancing generative design and simulation of additive manufacturing processes<\/a> to address this issue.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-center\" style=\"width: 453px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/09\/AM_residual_stresses-1.jpg\" width=\"453\" height=\"284\" alt=\"AM_residual_stresses.jpg\" title=\"AM_residual_stresses.jpg\"><span class=\"lia-inline-image-caption\" onclick=\"event.preventDefault();\">Prediction of  residual stresses in turbine blade  manufactured  via an powder bed fusion additive manufacturing process<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Prediction #3: Additional Usage of Software-In-The-Loop, Hardware-In-The-Loop, and Real-Time Simulation Support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mechatronics and cyber-physical systems are also expected to grow across many industries, as well as an increasing importance for simulation to support controls and embedded software. To meet these needs, we are developing advanced systems simulation techniques and combining them with traditional CAE. Our strategy for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/en\/campaigns\/simulation-driven-design\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">simulation-driven design<\/a> is to deliver scalable simulation solutions embedded in the environments for simulation experts and discipline specialists.
