After all, there are quite a lot of places where you\ncould hide. We expected to find\nyou in your office, your\nneighboring department, your university or research institutes, trade shows you\nvisit, industry events, scientific conferences, our training classes, at the\nphone when you call us up, your laptops and smart phones when you ping us, and\nat our very own conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What we did NOT expect was we would go\nand find you sitting at the kitchen table, in the attic, in the basement,\nbetween kids jumping around, because school and kindergarten is closed, your partner\nsitting next to you doing emails stuck at home just like you are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I assume that by now you\u2019ve been doing\nthis for a few days, just like me. I am a stuck-at-home engineer now. But\ndespite all obvious social challenges, even our professional work &#8211; that is\ntypically relying on computers and digital access to everything &#8211; under these\nconditions is not as straight forward as we initially thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even in times of digitalization and\ndigital communication I think it has quite quickly become obvious to all of us:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Being an engineer in a stuck-at-home\nscenario has its own challenges<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Access big CAE data from a remote\nlocation<\/li><li>Check out licenses from the\ncompany server<\/li><li>Stay in touch with\nengineering fellows and experts (and if it was just to talk to someone about\nthat annoying bug you just ran into)<\/li><li>Getting a quick question on\nthe tool answered<\/li><li>Getting detailed training\non new CAE software<\/li><li>Sharing the internet\nconnection with the kids <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, to be fair we can\u2019t solve all of\nthose (especially for the latter). But we did make a promise, and we take our\npromises seriously: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cWe will find you and we will support you!\u201d And we should have added: \u201cnot even a virus will stop us from doing so.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>So, it\u2019s our mission: to do whatever we can to make your engineering-from home-life a little easier: Here are the measures we will undertake with immediate effect so that no engineer stuck in home-office is left behind!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ensure access for our customers to their licensed Simcenter products<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Simcenter STAR-CCM+ <\/strong> For our customers working from home we are extending free and unlimited access to Simcenter STAR-CCM+ for two more weeks until May 15<sup>th. &nbsp;<\/sup>Customers who work from home and still cannot access your company licenses should contact their sales representative who can provide them with a new Power On Demand key (valid through May 15<sup>th<\/sup>, 2020).  The previous POD key expires on April 30<sup>th<\/sup>.  <\/li><li><strong>Simcenter Flotherm suite, Simcenter FLOEFD, Simcenter Flomaster, Simcenter Magnet and Simcenter Motorsolve<\/strong> If our customers are&nbsp;having licensing problems working from home they will find first troubleshooting guidance <a href=\"https:\/\/support.sw.siemens.com\/en-US\/product\/905395197\/knowledge-base\/MG609828\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;If you could not resolve the issue please&nbsp;open a <a href=\"https:\/\/support.sw.siemens.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">support request<\/a>. Our support staff will then help with the configuration or process your request for a 30-day license to use at home. This license can be extended if social distancing initiatives require it.&nbsp; <\/li><li><strong>Simcenter FEMAP <\/strong>&nbsp;We have made a node-lock license file available via the GTAC site for anyone who needs to use FEMAP on their Windows machine at home for any reason.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/community.sw.siemens.com\/s\/question\/0D54O00006OXnJ1SAL\/femap-nodelock-license-available-for-users-working-from-home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More information here<\/a>  <\/li><li><strong>Simcenter Testlab, Simcenter Testxpress, Simcenter Tecware, Simcenter 3D, Simcenter Amesim, Simcenter Prescan, Simcenter Madymo, Simcenter Tire, HEEDS<\/strong>. If you are having license issues, please get in touch with your Dedicated Support Engineer or Siemens Sales Representative who will make sure you can operate our software from home.<br><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> <strong>Free access to Siemens software Online Training<\/strong>    <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Changing work conditions present an opportunity for our community to increase their skills and abilities with Siemens software.
