The new requirements for medical devices to comply with the FDA&#8217;s <STRONG>unique device identification system<\/STRONG> (UDI) highlights a point we at Polarion have been interested in for some time now: the convergence of ALM and PLM<SUP>*<\/SUP>.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<IMG class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4062\" title=\"\" alt=\"US FDA logo\" src=\"http:\/\/community.plm.automation.siemens.com\/legacyfs\/online\/siemensplm_blogs\/2013\/09\/usfda-logo.jpg\" width=\"126\" height=\"64\" \/>UDI compliance will not only necessitate planning in the requirements and design phases, but also tracking through implementation, testing, and onward into the manufacturing process.
