You might have imagined yourself traveling across the stars, visiting different planets, or even settling on a new world. These fantasies and hopes, which have probably been around for centuries, are now more realistic than ever before.

Joined again by Jane Poynter, Ed is inspired to dive into some of the deeper concepts of space travel.

Why space travel could be in your future 🚀

Most people may consider space travel to be an impossible feat, but Jane’s company, Space Perspective, is offering rides to the edge of Earth’s stratosphere in an effort to re-shape what people think is possible!

What is the “overview effect?” 🌌

As explained by Jane, the overview effect is something that happens to people when they are able to look down at our planet. An overwhelming sense of belonging and an urge to take care of Earth is something that is typically felt during space travel.

Ed pushes on this concept questioning whether if more people were able to experience that view of Earth, if people would collectively want to take better care of our planet.

Is life on Mars the future? 🪐

To answer this question, and really answer the question of life anywhere besides Earth, here is Jane’s perspective on it all.

When you think about space travel as the way we’ve mostly thought about it, it’s the right stuff. It’s like, “I’m going to put up with the discomfort.” It’s hero’s stuff. Well, there’s only so many of us that are born to be heroes, let’s just face it. If we’re going to go live there, we have to change the paradigm of that so that it really does feel like home and somewhere we could not just survive but thrive.

Jane Poynter

Jane Poynter | Co-Founder of Space Perspective

Jane is co-founder of Space Perspective and is charged with ensuring all Space Explorers have the most meaningful and memorable journey possible.
