{"id":6554,"date":"2026-02-16T08:25:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T13:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/opcenter\/?p=6554"},"modified":"2026-03-26T05:11:31","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T09:11:31","slug":"whats-new-in-opcenter-execution-discrete-2601","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/opcenter\/whats-new-in-opcenter-execution-discrete-2601\/","title":{"rendered":"What\u2019s new in Opcenter Execution Discrete 2601"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"font-size:24px\">Leveraging out-of-the-box solutions for complex assembly and job shop environments<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Opcenter\u2122 Execution Discrete (EX DS) 2601 software, which is part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, <a>t<\/a>he comprehensive and integrated portfolio of software, hardware and services, is designed to meet the needs of industries that execute sequential discrete manufacturing functions, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Automotive tier suppliers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aerospace and defense tier suppliers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Energy and utilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heavy equipment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>White goods and home appliances<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complex parts manufacturing and assembly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By using Opcenter EX DS you can leverage specialized out-of-the-box (OOTB) functions for complex assembly manufacturing, job shop environments (high complexity, low volume) and automated repetitive manufacturing industries (configurable products, high volume).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Opcenter Execution Discrete 2601<\/strong>&nbsp;can be installed directly or as an update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">This release includes:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Containment<\/strong>: Thanks to the new\u00a0<strong>Containment\u00a0<\/strong>feature, when the Material Tracking Units, which have issues that prevent them to be used in the production, are identified, they can be easily isolated from the production itself so that it is possible to either fix them or reintroduce them in the production backlog (for example, thanks to a rework process) or definitely remove them (for example, thanks to a scrap process).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The integration with\u00a0<strong>Opcenter Intelligence Traceability Application<\/strong>\u00a0allows the Quality Manager to have a clear understanding of how the production is proceeding so that he\/she can easily pinpoint those production items that present issues and, thanks to the Genealogy capability, also quickly identify all the related production items.<br><br>Once the non-conforming production items have been identified, a<em>\u00a0Containment Request\u00a0<\/em>is raised in order to isolate these items from the production.<br>Opcenter Execution Discrete\u00a0is able to import the incoming\u00a0<em>Containment Request<\/em>\u00a0and mark the involved Material Tracking Units as\u00a0<em>In Containment\u00a0<\/em>so that they cannot proceed any further in the production.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All information related to the imported request is saved in\u00a0Opcenter Execution Discrete\u00a0as well. It\u2019s possible now to manage Containment Request directly in Opcenter Execution Discrete , to create and release them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" a&nbsp;<em>Containment Request&nbsp;<\/em>from the&nbsp;<strong>Opcenter Intelligence Traceability Application<\/strong>, in this case as well,&nbsp;Opcenter Execution Discrete&nbsp;is able to import the incoming&nbsp;<em>Containment Release&nbsp;<\/em>and update the related&nbsp;<em>Containment Request <\/em>accordingly and release the Material Tracking Units from the&nbsp;<em>In class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>First Article Support : <\/strong>In this version, thanks to the introduction of First Article Inspections (also referred to as FAIs), you can determine whether the changes made to the process adopted for your production in regard to various contexts (for example, the Final Material, the Material to be consumed or to be co-produced) continue to satisfy quality requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Through appropriate configuration, you can set a certain Inspection to be performed as a First Article Inspection. The FAI will be executed on the first article produced, that is during the first run of a Work Order (the Candidate Work Order) designated specifically for this particular Inspection. If the first run of the Work Order passes the FAI successfully, this means that your process is valid and can thus be used for all successive production runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The details of your FAI can be transferred to a dedicated printable FAI Report, which is based on a template in line with FAIR AS9102 standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img
