{"id":444,"date":"2019-09-11T11:09:15","date_gmt":"2019-09-11T18:09:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.plm.automation.siemens.com\/t5\/News-NX-Manufacturing\/Feature-based-Machining-Starter-Kit\/ba-p\/620752"},"modified":"2026-03-26T09:21:56","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T13:21:56","slug":"feature-based-machining-starter-kit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/nx-manufacturing\/feature-based-machining-starter-kit\/","title":{"rendered":"Feature-based Machining Starter Kit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the Starter Kit we give&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/products\/manufacturing-planning\/cam-software.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">NX CAM<\/a>&nbsp;software users a quick introduction into Feature-based Machining (FBM) with NX CAM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/products\/manufacturing-planning\/prismatic-parts-machining.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">Feature-based machining<\/a>&nbsp;helps you automatically create machine programs directly from part design models, which reduces programming time by up to 90 percent. NX generates the right machining process using the geometry, and product and manufacturing information (PMI), such as tolerances and surface finish, that is associated with intelligent 3D models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/community.sw.siemens.com\/servlet\/rtaImage?eid=ka54O000000GywQ&amp;feoid=00N4O000006LZn5&amp;refid=0EM4O00000116D4\" alt=\"fbm image 1.PNG\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no feature-based machining knowledge requirements to use the kit. The prerequisites are: NX CAM knowledge of how to create milling and drilling operations and an understanding of the concept of library tools.
