{"id":2388,"date":"2009-09-11T14:20:36","date_gmt":"2009-09-11T21:20:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.plm.automation.siemens.com\/t5\/Siemens-PLM-Corporate-Blog\/Innovative-Design\/ba-p\/334041"},"modified":"2026-03-26T11:19:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T15:19:19","slug":"innovative-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/news\/innovative-design\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovative Design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>When I first started working in this industry, I was pretty amazed to learn about the innovation and intelligence behind products I use every day, from cars to razors to vacuum cleaners (ok, I don\u2019t use that one EVERY day).<BR \/><BR \/>So on a day that is heavy with thoughts of others, I\u2019d like to raise up a few individuals and companies who have created some very innovative designs.<BR \/><BR \/><A href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Lifes-Design-Industrial-Designer-Harrison\/dp\/0977327108\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><\/A><A href=\"http:\/\/community.plm.automation.siemens.com\/legacyfs\/online\/wordpress\/images\/2009\/09\/WindowsLiveWriterInnovativeDesigns_9AF1lifes_design_3.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><IMG class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2001\" src=\"http:\/\/community.plm.automation.siemens.com\/legacyfs\/online\/wordpress\/images\/2009\/09\/WindowsLiveWriterInnovativeDesigns_9AF1lifes_design_3.jpg\" alt=\"WindowsLiveWriterInnovativeDesigns_9AF1lifes_design_3\" width=\"244\" height=\"244\" \/><\/A>&nbsp;<BR \/><BR \/>Check out&nbsp; the article \u201c<A href=\"http:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/arts-culture\/Intelligent-Designer.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Intelligent Designer<\/A>\u201d in the Smithsonian magazine, where Megan Gambino covers the designs of <A href=\"http:\/\/www.alifesdesign.com\/about.asp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Chuck Harrison<\/A> who among many great inventions, created the first-ever plastic garbage bin. His firm is always working on <A href=\"http:\/\/www.thealloy.com\/#work\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">innovative designs<\/A>. Also check out Jerry Sarfati\u2019s post on <A href=\"http:\/\/siemens.pmhclients.com\/index.php\/site\/comments\/the-lean-innovation-challenge\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">TheAlloy\u2019s lean innovation approach to industrial design<\/A>.<BR \/><BR \/><A href=\"http:\/\/soliddna.wordpress.com\/2009\/09\/10\/made-in-solid-edge\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Solid Edge blogger Luc Poulin<\/A> drew my attention to this 70-ton sculpture for the <A href=\"http:\/\/www.brisbanetimes.com.au\/photogallery\/queensland\/psychedelic-art-on-the-clem-7-tunnel\/20090820-erhk.html?selectedImage=2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Brisbane, Australia, tunnel<\/A>. They are also building a 560-ton version for one of the entrances. This <A href=\"http:\/\/www.brisbanetimes.com.au\/queensland\/matilda-and-florence-strip-off-in-24-seconds-20090820-erfw.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">article<\/A> notes that architect John Ilett created them.<BR \/><BR \/>Thanks to these folks and all of you who create innovative designs.
