He notes Lockheed Martin estimates they will lose more than 4,000 scientists and engineers annually. So the company engages K-12 students to&nbsp;peak their interest in&nbsp;manufaturing. In a separate&nbsp;video interview, Lockheed&#8217;s Mike Packer notes&nbsp;we need to&nbsp;<A href=\"http:\/\/link.brightcove.com\/services\/player\/bcpid1594709723001?bckey=AQ~~,AAAAC5-UdXk~,zed52RrNZxkRNelSHsjQniTkz33M1KDg&amp;bclid=1594693151001&amp;bctid=1614176546001\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">rebrand manufacturing as an attractive career<\/A>. At the community college-level, Kohler Company collaborates on curricula to develop \u201cmanufacturing-ready graduates.\u201d<BR \/><BR \/>These examples reminded me of discussions at PLM Connection following Bill Boswell \u201cCrisis in Manufacturing\u201d keynote presentation. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/en_us\/campaigns\/grow-your-own-whitepaper\/index.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">community college white paper <\/A>I\u2019ve blogged about before provides a blueprint.<\/LI><BR \/>\t<LI>Partner with us to create industry-specific design competitions. There are many good automotive contests but less in other industries.<\/LI><BR \/>\t<LI>Get involved with your local K-12 schools. There are many great programs you can help bring to a local school and encourage young adults to consider engineering.<\/LI><BR \/><\/UL><BR \/>Which of those can I&nbsp;sign you up for?
