Day 2 morning sessions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>Ed Green of Rolls Royce kicked off the day&#8217;s program with a thought-provoking key note, focusing on CAE initiatives at Rolls.&nbsp; I liked his perspective on the co-existence of test and simulation, where simulation can be used to &#8216;rehearse&#8217; testing, helping you to get it done right the first time.<BR \/><BR \/><A rel=\"attachment wp-att-13544 nofollow noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.industrysoftware.automation.siemens.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/24\/nx-cae-symposium-2012-day-2-morning-sessions\/dsc01743\/\"><IMG class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-13544\" src=\"http:\/\/community.plm.automation.siemens.com\/legacyfs\/online\/wordpress\/images\/2012\/10\/DSC01743-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/A><BR \/><BR \/>Next up was a tag-team presentation featuring Donny Hale of General Motors and Nicolas Parise of Maya Heat Transfer Technologies.&nbsp; Donny and Nicolas showcased the on-going effort to integrate thermal and flow solutions from Siemens PLM Software into the virtual prototyping ecosystem at the Detroit car maker.<BR \/><BR \/><!--more--><BR \/><BR \/><A rel=\"attachment wp-att-13545 nofollow noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.industrysoftware.automation.siemens.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/24\/nx-cae-symposium-2012-day-2-morning-sessions\/dsc01747\/\"><IMG class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-13545\" src=\"http:\/\/community.plm.automation.siemens.com\/legacyfs\/online\/wordpress\/images\/2012\/10\/DSC01747-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/A><BR \/><BR \/>Keith Meintjes of CIMdata started his presentation with a recap of Moore&#8217;s Law, and a brief trip back in time to the early days of high performance computing.&nbsp; He went on to discuss the role of simulation as an upfront design influencer, and how it can be &#8216;democratized&#8217; for wider usage within engineering environments.<BR \/><BR \/><A rel=\"attachment wp-att-13554 nofollow noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.industrysoftware.automation.siemens.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/24\/nx-cae-symposium-2012-day-2-morning-sessions\/dsc01750\/\"><IMG class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-13554\" src=\"http:\/\/community.plm.automation.siemens.com\/legacyfs\/online\/wordpress\/images\/2012\/10\/DSC01750-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/A><BR \/><BR \/>Ed Green (Rolls Royce), Art Avilla (JPL), Travis Hunter (Graham Packaging), and Dan Mekker (Siemens Energy) then took to the stage for the CAE panel discussion, moderated by Brad Holtz of Cyon Research, who also made opening remarks to help set the stage.&nbsp; When asked about the future landscape of CAE, Ed Green highlighted increasing use of High Performance Computing (HPC).&nbsp; Art stressed increased depth of multiphysics capabilities and the parallelization of those capabilities.&nbsp;
