Siemens acquires Lightwork Design: Delivering advanced 3D data visualization

By Tony Hemmelgarn

To the Siemens PLM Software and Lightwork Design Communities:

We are excited to announce the acquisition of Lightwork Design. Siemens continues to invest in software offerings for the Digital Enterprise, connecting virtual product development and production planning with the real production environment and lifecycle support. These solutions support the ‘digital twin’ of the product: from the initial product design, sophisticated product engineering, simulation and test, and design visualization.

Our customers are making advanced photorealistic rendering and visualization increasingly the norm across our key industries.  The compelling trends of augmented reality, virtual reality, model based engineering, digital mock up and mobile visualization set new requirements for product design and virtual validation and verification.

The acquisition expands our ‘open business’ strategy, continuing Siemens market leading position in the technology licensing segment, adding high end rendering and visualization capabilities. The offerings of Lightwork Design will be combined with our existing PLM Components business, where more than 240 companies integrate Siemens PLM Software technology into 350 commercial applications for the benefit of six million end-users.

Together with the Lightwork Design team, we will also continue development of the best high end rendering and visualization solutions for our own customers; keeping ahead of the game in the ever changing visualization and virtual reality market.

Press Release

Kind regards,

Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO, Siemens PLM Software
