How to Design a High-Speed Ferry that Carries its Own Weight in Payload (Reprise)

By AlRobertson

A couple of years ago I blogged about the Revolution Design case study (SPLM blog: 1/5/11). Last year I had the chance to travel to Hobart, visit the company and interview Gary Davidson, Senior Director, Structures, who told me about how they build these fast catamarans and how they use Femap for the modeling and analysis work. He also took me for a tour around the facility, and I got a chance to see one of these vessels up close in the final construction stage.

Certainly a very impressive design and a memorable trip, watch the videoread the case study.
