Low-Power Designs Need Signal Integrity Analysis

Ask any signal integrity expert, what keeps you awake at night? Most will agree that it’s the question of being 100 percent certain that their design will work in real life.

Most modern electronic products require low-power designs to conserve battery power. That means that most of the nets work on really low voltages. They also need to process data faster which means faster clock signals and higher edge rates. Together, that translates into designs that are more susceptible to crosstalk from other nets.

Even simple PCB designs can have hundreds of nets, making it unrealistic, tedious, and time-consuming to check each and every net for crosstalk and termination. HyperLynx® has a new “batch” signal integrity wizard to help you out of this tricky situation. Learn more.

First, use the wizard to run a quick analysis of all the nets on your board. That analysis will check for problematic nets by running a series of fast calculations and providing approximate results. Once complete, use the wizard again to perform a detailed analysis on those problematic nets.

Although detailed analysis is slower than quick analysis, it is far more accurate so you can save a lot of time by doing the quick assessment first.
