Meet Sadie Gladden, a Software Engineer at Siemens. Former intern turned full-time engineer in Product Engineering Software; Sadie not only excels in her role but also dedicates her time to mentoring new students for her team. As a leader in our Milford, Ohio, USA, Siemens Women’s Network (SWN) Employee Resource Group (ERG), she empowers women in tech and celebrates their achievements. Sadie shares her insights on being a woman in tech and offers valuable advice for those to come.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s theme is #InspireInclusion and that to me means fostering a place of belonging and ensuring diverse voices are elevated and heard. People feel most included when they feel a sense of safety and belonging.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does it mean to be a woman in tech?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Being a woman in tech means providing a diverse perspective to a male dominant field. Closing the gender gap in Tech and STEM professions will only drive innovation further.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What advice would you give to other women considering a career in technology?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Do it! Find yourself a strong support group and share your experiences. I cannot stress how important it is to share your experiences! I have learned a lot about what I want out of my career and job just from talking with other women about their experiences and career progression. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What advice would you give your younger self?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t \u2018grow up\u2019 too much! Stay curious and try new things. Stay courageous and face your fears. Stay determined and achieve your goals. Learn to be deliberate and make your choices with intention and learn to understand what is in and out of your control. It\u2019s not a recipe for success in all things, but it\u2019s definitely a path towards lifelong learning and meaningful adventures.<\/p>\n\n\n
