The rapid pace of innovation<\/a> and new product introduction is driving PCB designers to churn out designs faster than ever before. Yet not every design can be produced by every manufacturer, especially in light of the global supply chain problems that have led to severe component shortages. The multiple iterations needed to adapt a design to real-world manufacturing capabilities can significantly slow down the entire PCB lifecycle and time-to-market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the pace of innovation accelerates, it\u2019s more important than ever to “shift left” and perform Design for Manufacturing Analysis<\/a> (DFM), starting early in the design stage, eliminating the need for multiple revisions and respins. However, the costs of the on-premises, software installation, support and maintenance, and skilled technological resources needed for traditional DFM, setup and definition, mean that DFM is out of reach for many of small and medium businesses (SMBs). That\u2019s an important point because in today\u2019s PCB market, SMBs outnumber enterprise OEMs by 4 to 1.  
Cloud-based DFM gives small to medium businesses access to powerful technology and software that was previously unattainable with traditional DFM tools.<\/strong> Therefore, many SMBs and even large enterprises are now turning to SaaS applications that can be easily launched and updated with dynamic, real-time manufacturing data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
