Hello everyone! So many people attended our recent \u201c<\/a>Start Smarter\u201d webinar<\/a>, asking so many great questions on different topics, that I decided to answer some of them in this blog. I\u2019ll take on different questions each week, starting today with the basics and answering questions on getting started with PADS.\u00a0 Please feel free to leave comments below if you have questions regarding this topic. I hope to answer all your questions, but if you are still unsure, don\u2019t be shy – ask me anything!<\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0 James H. asked what tutorials are available when transitioning to, or starting up with PADS?<\/p>\n

A:\u00a0 There are a couple places to start.\u00a0 When you install the software, the PADS Evaluation Guide will be on your desktop.\u00a0 It can also be downloaded from our website here<\/a>.\u00a0 We call it an Eval Guide, but it\u2019s truly a full flow tutorial of PADS, with chapters and lessons on everything from schematic capture, simulation and analysis, PADS Layout and routing, CAM outputs, etc.\u00a0 (we will be renaming this to PADS Tutorial soon!).\u00a0 There are also other tutorials available on the Welcome page when you first launch PADS Layout \u2013 same type of data: descriptive \u201chow-tos\u201d with accompanying lessons.<\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0 From Joyce M. \u2013 What is the best tutorial for DxDesigner?\u00a0 And from Syed R, Where can I learn about the Reuse module?<\/p>\n

A: I suggest the same PADS Eval Guide I mentioned above \u2013 it goes into pretty good detail on both DxDesigner and DxDataBook as well as PDR.<\/p>\n

Q: Stefan N. would like to know if we have PDF documentation\/manuals that can be download from the Mentor website?<\/p>\n

A:\u00a0 All product docs are available with the install, and online at<\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0 Beverly G. says that she would like to self-learn the autorouter, and also asked whether we have any YouTube videos on how to run it?<\/p>\n

A: I\u2019ll point you to a few resources.\u00a0 First, the same Eval Guide mentioned above has a section on how to run the router.\u00a0 We do have a PADS YouTube Channel at http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/PADSPCBDesign<\/a>, and more videos one the PADS website<\/a>, including an on-demand webinar titled PADS Routing \u2013 Increase Your Productivity Today<\/a>\u201d.\u00a0 There are also several TechNotes \u2013 some with videos \u2013 on how to use the autorouter on SupportNet.<\/p>\n

Q: James H. also asked if there will be additional presentations for in-depth features on PADS?<\/p>\n

A: Good timing for this question!\u00a0 We\u2019re in the process of planning a fall webinar and seminar series that will do just that.\u00a0 Each one will dig deeper into a specific portion of the PADS flow.<\/p>\n

Q: And finally, Jerry K. would like to know if there will be any roadshows in the mid-west this year?<\/p>\n

A:\u00a0 Absolutely!\u00a0 In fact, we\u2019re just completing the Summer Seminar series (I\u2019ll be in China and Taiwan for two weeks in August presenting), and planning for the Fall world-wide seminar series now.\u00a0 We\u2019ll hit about 60 cities worldwide, including your region.\u00a0 The best way to find out when we\u2019ll be in your area of the world, check our website in September<\/a>, and in social media by\u00a0continuing \u00a0to follow this blog, Twitter<\/a>, LinkedIn<\/a>, and Google+.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
