The company is based in Windsor, Canada across the border from Michigan. Windsor and the surrounding areas in Ontario are a hotbed of tooling companies due to the Automotive OEMs in Michigan. Majority of the injection molds this company manufactures&nbsp;are for&nbsp;the&nbsp;Automotive OEMs&nbsp;and&nbsp;Tier 1-2 suppliers&nbsp;that dot the landscape in&nbsp;Michigan and Ohio. They also manufacture molds for consumer products such as home appliances and electronic devices. Based on tooling industry reports and survey,&nbsp;tooling companies&nbsp;win less than 50% of the&nbsp;jobs they quote&nbsp;and, in many cases,&nbsp;even less.&nbsp;A significant amount of&nbsp;effort&nbsp;goes into&nbsp;creating an accurate quote. Like many tooling companies, this company also relied&nbsp;on&nbsp;manual processes in generation quotes&nbsp;that may not be accurate due to errors in&nbsp;cost&nbsp;and lead time&nbsp;estimation.&nbsp;According to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/nx-design\/how-mold-makers-can-improve-their-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">survey of 370 mold-makers<\/a>&nbsp;conducted by Tech-Clarity, an independent research firm,&nbsp;respondents report&nbsp;that on average, molds cost&nbsp;27% more than they estimated&nbsp;during bidding, and it takes 28%&nbsp;longer to deliver it than they&nbsp;expected when they bid for the&nbsp;job.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another challenge that mold-makers face is&nbsp;collaboration during the tool design phase.&nbsp;Data from the same survey&nbsp;shows that poor communication can add 26% to the cost of the tool.&nbsp;As&nbsp;per&nbsp;the Tech-Clarity&nbsp;eBook&nbsp;based on the survey results&nbsp;\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/resource\/ebook-breaking-the-mold\/85866\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Breaking the Mold\u2019<\/a>,&nbsp;these costs can come from&nbsp;many places.
