The team plans, designs and builds off-road vehicles for the Baja competition and on-road vehicles for the Formula and Electric Vehicle ones. \u00a0Like many <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/academic\/advanced-engineering-tools-for-student-vehicle-teams\/\">other student teams<\/a>, this experience provides pivot experiences for future engineers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association was founded in 1999 by Professor Lee, Ki Hyung. Since then the teams have continuously improved their vehicle performance in various competitions over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/02\/YCH_4368-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3952\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/02\/YCH_4368-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/02\/YCH_4368-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/02\/YCH_4368-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/02\/YCH_4368-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/02\/YCH_4368-900x600.jpg 900w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/02\/YCH_4368.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Major student competition in Korea supported by local automakers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For over 10 years the <a href=\"http:\/\/jajak.ksae.org\/eng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Korean SAE Competition<\/a> has been organized by the <a href=\"http:\/\/eng.ksae.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Korean Society of Automotive Engineers\u00a0<\/a>to help grow and foster the next generation of engineers. With three different sections of the competition, students get to learn a variety of skills through hands-on experience with CAD software. As the largest student engineering competition in South Korea, the event is sponsored by over 56 local automakers and related organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Supported with software used within the industry<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/products\/simcenter\/STAR-CCM.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Simcenter STAR-CCM+<\/a>, Siemens computational fluid dynamic software, the team could better understand model flaws and improve their design. Baqu4 students team said \u201cThanks to Siemens&#8217; grant of Simcenter STAR-CCM+, we were able to design the vehicle&#8217;s aerodynamics devices. Furthermore, through CFD analysis, we found the target values and evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aerodynamics analysis helped them increasing the vehicle\u2019s downforce by over 90% over past models. This design optimization allowed the vehicle to travel faster by increasing the vertical force on the tires and keep the nose of the car planted firmly on the ground. All of this information was stated in a report that the design board review uses to assess the vehicle design accuracy by comparing aerodynamics CFD analysis and actual driving
