Now more than ever, it&#8217;s important for students to learn the software they will use in the workforce.  For our latest global student challenge, we asked students to submit&nbsp;self-produced short video clips highlighting their experience with the Siemens software portfolio. Today we are announcing the winners!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>First Place: Umang Tuladhar<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Umang recently completed his graduate degree in industry and systems engineering from Oakland University and is currently working as a Program Ergonomist at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">General Motors<\/a>. His job is to make sure that the team members can assemble vehicles and carry out the rest of their job responsibilities safely. Umang uses several Siemens technologies at work such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/products\/teamcenter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Teamcenter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/products\/tecnomatix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tecnomatix<\/a>, but he was first exposed to the software portfolio at school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After attending conferences like<a href=\"https:\/\/events.sw.siemens.com\/realizelive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Realize Live<\/a>, utilizing Siemens educational resources such as <a href=\"https:\/\/training.plm.automation.siemens.com\/index.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learning Advantage<\/a>, and using software in the classroom, Umang was brought closer to his goal of becoming a digital industry expert. &nbsp;Of the time he spent learning the software portfolio he said, \u201cSoftware such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/products\/nx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NX<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/topic\/tecnomatix-plant-simulation\/79261\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Plant Simulation<\/a>  had a learning curve associated them. Siemens has compiled a good amount of resources online to learn the software. I personally spent a lot of time doing trainings available in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/academic\/meet-the-new-learning-advantage\/\">Learning Advantage<\/a>.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video below, Umang talks through some of his projects using software such as Plant Simulation. He also walks through how he has leveraged the Siemens software portfolio to create digital twins and optimize manufacturing processes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Siemens Global Challenge - 2020\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/L2CotXneWoU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Second Place: Mazhar Ali<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mazhar is studying for his Masters in renewable at Ecole Centrale Nantes in France. \u00a0His work with Siemens software portfolio started in 2019 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/products\/simcenter\/STAR-CCM.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">StarCCM+<\/a> while doing a university project on different fluid dynamics applications. Of his introduction to StarCCM+ he said, \u201cI felt like I was getting into a new world.\u201d In his submission video below, Mazhar talks about how he stayed late into the night on-campus working on his project and almost got locked in the university building! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now in his final year of university, Mazhar is using StarCCM+ for his final project and the work is going smoothly. By using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/our-story\/partners\/academic\/student-engineering-software.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">free educational courses <\/a>provided by Siemens he has been able to get hands-on training and increase his knowledge of the platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kzAXmMcfzkw\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to our winners!
