{"id":3367,"date":"2020-05-29T17:16:35","date_gmt":"2020-05-29T21:16:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/academic\/?p=3367"},"modified":"2026-03-26T08:16:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T12:16:07","slug":"winners-of-the-nx-student-challenge-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/academic\/winners-of-the-nx-student-challenge-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Winners of the NX Student Challenge announced!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover has-background-dim\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/iq-kooperation-adobe-stock-215441621-ai-knowledge-graph_medium-002-003.jpeg);background-position:51% 51%\"><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:22px\">The Quarterly Global Student Challenge gives students recognition for the innovative use of DISW software to solve a&nbsp;unique challenge presented each quarter.\u200b \u200bChallenges will be developed in conjunction with product teams, customers, and other partners to help solve real world&nbsp;problems.\u200b Each challenge will be a little different, with some entries involving video summaries of projects posted on various social&nbsp;media channels and incorporating a&nbsp;particular hashtag, or others involving the submission of technical files, papers, or&nbsp;other media types.\u200b<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Our first challenge for this Calendar Year was \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/academic\/enter-nxstudentchallenge\/\">NX Student Challenge<\/a>\u201d-Get Certified and then tell us about it in a video that ran from January 6-April 30, 2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:27% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"160\" height=\"160\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/Anurag-003.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/Anurag-003.jpg 160w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/Anurag-003-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 160px) 100vw, 160px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">The winners of the NX Student challenge have been chosen, in first place is Anurag Koyyada, a Political Economy student in his final year at King\u2019s College in London. Anurag is involved in the STEM programs at his university, and in his own words is \u201crather interested in consumption, logistics and general supply chain management.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Anurag found the certification exam to be a bit on the easier side, as he has a solid background in mathematics, specifically geometry, and this helps him understand how the actual products are made. His eventual career goal is to work in management and believes certification will help him \u201cmediate the technical to non-technical side of the teams\u201d as he will be able to understand the software and the hurdles that exist on both sides. His favorite thing about NX is the ability to put things together very easily, and actually show what the mechanics look like, compared to other CAD software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:28% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"884\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/IMG_0807-002-1024x884.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/IMG_0807-002-1024x884.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/IMG_0807-002-600x518.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/IMG_0807-002-768x663.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/IMG_0807-002-1536x1326.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/IMG_0807-002-2048x1768.jpeg 2048w, https:\/\/blogs.sw.siemens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/IMG_0807-002-1110x958.jpeg 1110w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Coming in second place is Cameron Lewis, a 3<sup>rd<\/sup> year mechanical engineering student at Michigan State University. Overall Cameron found the exam to be the right amount of challenge for his skillset and highlights the usability and interface of NX as being easy to use. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI thought the whole exam was very comprehensive and tested us on everything we should know at this point in order to be certified.\u201d He also believes the certification will help him in his career, stating \u201cLiving in Michigan with the auto industry and so much manufacturing that happens in Michigan, having the skills and certification in NX will help me find different jobs in different fields.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/our-story\/partners\/academic\/student-software.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">free student downloads<\/a> available and don\u2019t forget to take our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plm.automation.siemens.com\/global\/en\/topic\/nx-certification\/65163\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NX Certification<\/a>.
